How to Reconstitute a Research Peptide

01
Gather supplies
You need: lyophilized peptide vial, bacteriostatic water, insulin syringe, alcohol wipes
02
Clean vial tops
Wipe the rubber stopper on both vials with an alcohol wipe and allow to dry
03
Draw bacteriostatic water
Draw your chosen volume (1ml, 2ml etc) from the bacteriostatic water vial
04
Add slowly to peptide
Inject the water slowly down the side of the peptide vial — do not spray directly onto the powder
05
Swirl gently
Gently roll the vial between your palms — never shake. The powder should dissolve into a clear solution
06
Use the calculator
Enter your vial size, water added, and desired dose above to get your exact draw amount

Frequently Asked Questions

The most common volumes are 1ml, 2ml, or 3ml. Using more water lowers the concentration, making it easier to measure smaller doses accurately. Using less water increases concentration, which means smaller draw volumes per dose. For peptides dosed in the 100-500mcg range, 2ml is typically a good balance. Use the calculator above to see exactly what each water volume means for your draw size.
Reconstituted research peptides stored in bacteriostatic water typically remain stable for 4–6 weeks when refrigerated at 2–8°C (36–46°F). Lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides before reconstitution have a much longer shelf life of 1–2 years when stored properly in a freezer. Always check vendor COA documentation for specific stability data.
1 milligram (mg) = 1,000 micrograms (mcg). Peptide vials are typically sold in milligrams (5mg, 10mg, 20mg) while doses are often expressed in micrograms (100mcg, 250mcg, 500mcg). The calculator handles both units — select mcg or mg in the custom dose input.
Insulin syringes are marked in "units" where 100 units = 1ml = 1cc. A 0.3ml syringe has 30 units total. A 0.5ml syringe has 50 units. A 1.0ml syringe has 100 units. Each unit = 0.01ml = 10 microliters. The calculator shows your draw in both microliters (µl) and syringe units for all three common syringe sizes.
Bacteriostatic water (containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol) is preferred for research use because it inhibits bacterial growth, allowing the vial to be used multiple times. Regular sterile water does not contain a preservative, so it is only suitable for single-use reconstitution. For any multi-draw research protocol, bacteriostatic water is the standard diluent.
A properly reconstituted research peptide should be clear and colorless. Cloudiness may indicate the peptide has not fully dissolved (try gentle rolling, not shaking), the temperature is too cold (allow to warm slightly), or in some cases may indicate degradation or contamination. Consult your vendor's COA and documentation for the expected appearance of your specific compound.
